Situated at the end of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula, this idyllic spot has
everything, a few hills, open farmland and great coastal views.
We will also take in some of the track near Army Bay, which we recall the
club doing before. Note the later start time (treat yourself for a wee sleep in!).

View Reserve in Dannemora using as many connecting reserves and green
belts as possible. We will lunch amongst the magnificent stand of
native trees at Murphy’s Bush and top up our education with a quick
visit to the Fó-Guāng-Shān (佛光山)

This is a day out at the Long Bay Regional park with a slight variation.
As this is an easy walk we have decided to provide the following options.
(A) Meet at the café at the Park for Sunday Brunch at 9:30am.
Cost $15-$20 (or whatever). A delightful way to start a Sunday tramp
for a change.
(B) If you do not wish to partake of the above, meet at the
café at 10:30am and look enviously at those who have dined well and
will be ready for a good walk.
The walk will include the nature trail loop and will take us right to the
end of the entrance to the Ōakura River and return to Long Bay.
Please contact the leader, especially if you wish to partake in option A.
It may also be possible to form car pools at Glen Eden for Option A at 8:30am,
and for Option B at 9:30am.

Tramping Trips
Day tramping trips are held almost every Sunday, meeting outside the
Post Shop in Glenmall Place, Glen Eden
(map,
map2)
and leaving at 8:30 am, unless otherwise stated in the programme.
Introductory tramping trips are held approximately once a month,
leaving at 9:30 am from outside the Post Shop in Glenmall Place, Glen Eden
(map,
map2)
unless otherwise stated in the monthly magazine.
A weekend tramping trip is organized approximately every 4-6 weeks.
Meeting arrangements are communicated by the trip leader
to participants. Weekend trips do not leave from Glenmall Place.
What to bring on a day tramping trip
- Lunch (including drink) & extra eats (scroggin) to nibble at during the day.
- Waterproof raincoat or parka.
- Woollen/polarfleece jersey/bushshirt and a hat of some kind.
- Footwear; boots are desirable though not essential.
Sandshoes or training shoes will do for a start.
A plastic bag for dirty footwear is handy as many drivers
do not appreciate muddy boots in their car.
- A plastic bag or pack liner. As no pack is waterproof,
a plastic bag will keep the contents dry.
It is a good idea to pack clothing in a plastic bag as well.
- Carry your own medication for any allergies i.e asthma etc.,
and if you have a medical condition please let the leader know.
What to bring on a weekend tramp
Contact the trip leader to find out what you need to take
with you, as the equipment may differ depending on the trip.
